Klarman Hall at Harvard Business School

THE EXPERIENCE

Harvard business school is revolutionising the future of higher education teaching by installing a new SiliconCore 61.8-foot-wide display at their multipurpose auditorium, Klarman Hall. The auditorium is built in a three-tier floor plan that allows it to be configured for smaller-scale events and larger events, seating up to 1000 people.

A subtly curved 116 square metre digital canvas with a 1.9mm pixel pitch was installed to accommodate the varied viewing angles ranging from 5 to 40 metres onto a custom frame from mounting specialists at RP Visual Solutions.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The striking display has varied connectivity opportunities. University Lecturers can easily connect their devices to the screen via HDMI, while the display can be fed with SDI sources, such as cameras operated from the auditorium’s control room. For ease of displaying multiple windows of mixed media at once, the system includes a Christie Spyder X80 windowing processor, enabling multiple 4K sources to be displayed on the screen simultaneously.

Thanks to the extensive use of SiliconCore’s LED display’s capabilities, and the overall design of Klarman Hall, Harvard Business School, is leading the way in demonstrating how displays can be utilised as digital canvases in learning environments. The display succeeds in enhancing education for those within the halls and remote learners of this highly respected institution.
