Yongchuan Technology Studio | Virtual Production

The Experience

Yongchuan Technology Studio is China's largest digital technology film studio. It features a 360 sq meter curved 1.9mm pixel pitch LED wall, which is Asia's largest curved LED virtual shooting screen and features SiliconCore’s proprietary driver chip technology which powers the 1.9mm LED display wall.

An additional 3.4mm pixel pitch 200 sq meter LED acts as a ceiling for capturing immersive scenes on multiple surfaces.

As the technical provider of the Studio, DAWA Future (Chongqing) Imaging Technology Co is at the heart of development of China’s Yongchuan District film and television industry. The Studio was founded to improve the industrialization level of China's visual digital content production, creating a professional space specially designed for the entire digital film production process.

Behind The Scenes

This alternative to the traditional green screen shooting method creates highly realistic virtual scenes and real-life settings that span indoor and outdoor environments.

SiliconCore’s unique and patented Common Cathode driver has made the creation of an LED volume this majestic possible. This powers individual LEDs in a more efficient way, resulting in a display that runs cool to the touch, with 20-50% cooler operating temperatures and lower power consumption than the market average.

This creates a comfortable experience for actors close to the screen and significantly reduces the running costs. With less heat being emitted, the lifespan of the display is also extended to over 100,000 hours, resulting in industry leading total cost of ownership.

The display also delivers a higher performance with up to a 240hz frame rate, allowing the capture of four scenes simultaneously shot, defined images with less motion blur, excellent slow-motion cinematography when slowed down to 60hz and is ideal for building active 3D environments.

SiliconCore’s Image Enhancing Technology improves the contrast and provides better detail in low brightness areas of the image. The LED wall also reaches a high brightness of 2000 Nits and maintains brightness consistency across the product lifespan.

The LED wall mounted in the ceiling is on an automated rigging and splits into two sections, tiling at a 45-degree angle to provide complete immersion for scenes being shot in multiple dimensions.
