THE EXPERIENCE

In its New Jersey office, Federal Home Loan Bank now features a 50ft LED video wall for its collaborative Technology Hub. Spanning the open plan space, the huge display creates a continuous and seamless, high-resolution canvas showing multiple windows of financial information and data for staff at the heart of the bank’s state-of-the-art workplace. Visualizing data on this scale in the workplace sets a new benchmark for other financial institutions to follow.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Serving as a central visual display for the bank’s operations, FHLB required a solution capable of displaying numerical information clearly and seamlessly for employees. Using a 1.9mm pixel pitch, the display measures 50ft x 5.6ft which is fed by an advanced Analog Way processor and Crestron signal matrix system, making it possible to choose from 24 potential sources, stream to any of the 12 content channels and display content in any number of display windowing pre-sets. The result is a powerful and highly flexible command, control and collaboration environment.

Key to the success of the display is the close proximity environment, its low power consumption, cool, fan-less operating temperatures, and wide viewing angles. Featuring our proprietary technologies, Common Cathode and ZACH, both the heat and energy dissipation are significantly reduced providing FHLB with a sustainable solution, and comfortable viewing environment. Despite the high levels of ambient light from the building’s floor-to-ceiling windows, the Orchid display can reach up to 1500 nits, comfortably competing with the fluctuating daylight without interruption to the image.

Working with architects, The Switzer Group, the display is mounted to a custom, free standing frame designed and supplied by RP Visual Solutions, enabling FHLB to utilize the space behind and display engineers to service from the front. The installation was designed by PTS Consulting, and installed by Verrex Corporation.

“The video wall is actively used to monitor the bank’s security posture, infrastructure and application statistics by several teams at the bank. Instead of huddling around one person’s desk, we now have the option to utilize the video wall as the person’s display for all to contribute, while troubleshooting or discussing topics. This has increased information-sharing and collaboration between teams which assists our bank operations in its daily function as it helps support the execution of the bank’s business plans.”

Eric Shumsky, VP, director of technical services at FHLBNY

“On this project we were very lucky to work hand in hand with a client so engaged in the design process, so committed to excellence and willing to push the boundaries of technology in order to create such a highly functional, flexible and futureproof solution.  As a veteran in the world of video wall design I can say that this is certainly a high point.”
