SiliconCore partners with Megapixel to elevate LED display performance for the broadcast industry

dvLED display manufacturer SiliconCore and LED processing specialists Megapixel have entered into a strategic partnership which brings together the finest MicroLED displays with world leading processing technologies. This partnership enables next generation image quality on SiliconCore’s high resolution LED displays and functionality for in-camera broadcasts, virtual and XR productions and live spectaculars.

Driven by high demand from the broadcast market, SiliconCore’s 1.9mm XR LED displays, which include floor and wall placements to create immersive volumes, are now compatible with Megapixel’s HELIOS™ LED processing platform.

HELIOS has become the industry standard for broadcasters with its flexible input architecture being the first capable of native SMPTE ST 2110. Combined with its 100G QSFP fibre input module, HELIOS is the industry’s first 8K platform and only processor able to ingest up to 8K60 12-bit natively, or 4x 4K60, enabling ultra large canvas sizes.

HELIOS’s capacity is ideal for new build studios and those upgrading their spaces to deliver exceptional image quality across large format displays with ease.

As the only LED display manufacturer who makes its own driver chips, and the original creator and patent holder of Common Cathode technology, SiliconCore is uniquely positioned to maximize the efficiency, performance and image fidelity of each pixel.

SiliconCore boasts the finest industry pixel pitches with displays that achieve frame rates of 240Hz and has a suite of proprietary technologies that deliver additional image quality benefits. This includes its LISA encapsulation which provides increased durability with optical clarity and allows the same LED modules to be used on the floor as on the wall, with no separate overlay required. HELIOS takes full advantage of the contrast and clarity available only to SiliconCore displays to create the highest-resolution immersive production spaces and LED volumes possible.

SiliconCore’s ZACH technology, embedded into its driver chips, delivers the highest dynamic range in the market.  It enhances the details in the shadows with unrivalled low brightness uniformity and color accuracy across the volume, especially in areas of low-level brightness.

The integration with HELIOS will see these native technology benefits further maximized.

Eric Li, CEO and President of SiliconCore explains:

“The combination of SiliconCore’s unique and patented driver technologies with Megapixel’s HELIOS™ processor unlocks higher performance specifications for optimal display image reproduction and quality.

“We see great synergy between our two companies as leaders in our respective fields, driving innovation, bringing both world-class and world-first solutions to market, and holding over 200 patents between us, with plenty more to reveal from our flourishing roadmaps soon. We are excited to be on this journey together to see what impact we can have on the broadcast market.”

SiliconCore is known for its driver technology with advancements unparalleled with its competitors.  The HELIOS platform is taking an already powerful high-performance display and making it feature rich, elevating above its competitors.

HELIOS is designed as a compact solution, enabling delivery of these exceptional image standards through fewer boxes. It also features an industry leading low power mode, and its flexible input architecture reduces upstream equipment needs, future proofing the solution with upgrade possibilities for an extended lifetime and enhancing reliability by reducing the points of failure.

SiliconCore’s patented technologies deliver low operating temperatures and up to 40% less power consumption than comparable displays, leading to a longer lifespan for optimal ROI in production environments, where operating cost is crucial.

Visit SiliconCore at NAB Show in Las Vegas from 13th – 17th April on Booth C1819 to experience a three-sided 1.9mm XR LED Display volume for XR productions.
